Bespoke Refectory Table Commission
This bespoke refectory table was commissioned by Peter and Orlando of Langford Fivehead. A 15th Century Boutique Hotel and Restaurant in the heart of Somerset. The Manor House has been lovingly restored with a beautiful mix of contemporary and Tudor furniture and fixtures.
Peter and Orlando wanted a bespoke refectory table that would become a centre pieces to the Manor House. It needed to be used to entertain and dine 16 guests. It was of the upmost importance that the bespoke refectory table was made in the same 15th Century Tudor style of the manor house. The refectory table needed to be so authentic that King Henry V would have been happy to entertain his guest on it.
After much consultation we produced a 16 seat bespoke refectory table in the style of a Tudor long room refectory table. We also produced 16 matching pippy oak splat frame handmade chairs and a side table that converts to a serving table.
How we achieved the Tudor Style Refectory Table
The bespoke refectory table was made from Character French Oak. It was not old Oak, but James manually aged the refectory table with the trusted and skilful use of an axe and inshave. This gives it that centuries-old look and feel to the touch. All the timber is from the same tree.
Since we made the bespoke refectory table the Langford Fivehead has changed ownership. Now Olly and Rebecca have inherited the bespoke refectory table. They have moved the rectory table into the main entrance Hall of the hotel, making it the centre piece that guest first see when they arrive. We think they like the refectory table too.
Bespoke Refectory Table Dimensions: 3.9m x 950mm – 40mm thick table top.
