An old chap called me up to see if I was interested in some 200 hundred years old Elm boards from an old flour mill.
He told me how the boards had been in his Father’s barn since he was knee high. The chap was 87 and still a sharp old chisel when it came to the price though.
I managed to make four bespoke dining tables from the Elm boards, of which this is one. It’s new home is Keston in Kent.
The 8 seater dining table was made to fit in the space available. The tabletop has been distressed with the use of an adze and inshave then sanded to give a tactile worn look and feel.
Wood & Character: Reclaimed Elm aged with adze and inshave.
Dimensions: L 210cm, W 90cm & 40mm thick.
Tabletop Finish: Jacobean light-fast stain with a hard wax oil finish.
Leg Design: Over-size 15cm square legs from old reclaimed Oak.
