Terms & Conditions

The following Terms & Conditions explain how we work, from placing your order through to delivery and aftercare.

As every piece is handcrafted from solid timber, each item is naturally unique, and these terms help set clear expectations for both you and us.

1. Bespoke Furniture

Every piece of furniture is handmade to order and built to your individual requirements. As each commission is unique, final products may vary slightly from photographs, samples or previous work.

2. Natural Timber

Solid timber is a natural material and every piece is unique. Variations in grain, colour, knots, cracks, drying shakes, splits and natural movement are inherent characteristics of the wood and contribute to the individuality of each item. These natural features are not considered defects in either the timber or the craftsmanship.

Timber naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity. Hot, dry conditions may cause the wood to shrink, while damp conditions may cause it to expand. Seasonal movement is a normal characteristic of solid wood furniture.

To help protect your furniture, we recommend positioning it away from radiators, underfloor heating where possible, and prolonged periods of strong direct sunlight. During periods of extreme weather, such as summer heatwaves, additional care should be taken to minimise excessive exposure to heat and direct sunlight.

Quercus Furniture cannot accept responsibility for natural changes to timber caused by environmental conditions after delivery. This does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

3. Quotations

All quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.

Any changes to the agreed specification after an order has been placed may affect the final price and delivery timescale.

4. Deposits & Payment

A deposit is required before work begins.

The remaining balance is payable before or upon delivery, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Ownership of the furniture remains with Quercus Furniture until payment has been received in full.

5. Lead Times

As every piece is handcrafted, delivery times are estimates only. We will always keep you informed of progress and advise you of any significant delays.

6. Cancellations

Because your furniture is made specifically for you, orders cannot normally be cancelled once production has started.

If you wish to cancel before work begins, any refund of your deposit will be at our discretion, less any costs already incurred.

7. Delivery

Please ensure there is suitable access to the delivery location. It is the customer’s responsibility to check doorways, staircases and access routes before ordering.

Any additional delivery costs resulting from restricted access may be chargeable.

Risk passes to the customer once the furniture has been delivered.

8. Inspection

Please inspect your furniture on delivery and notify us within 48 hours if there are any issues relating to damage in transit or manufacturing defects.

9. Warranty

Quercus Furniture warrants that its workmanship is of a high standard.

This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, neglect, or the natural movement and ageing of timber.

10. Consumer Rights

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
